Tips for Success
- Measure and have all your ingredients ready to go before starting. This will make the process run smoothly, quickly, and easily.
- Give yourself enough time. Whether you're an experienced dessert maker or not, rushing through a recipe is never a good idea, especially if you're going to be making the dessert for a special day.
- Give the dessert a test run before making it for a special occasion. If you are making something you've never made before, especially if you aren't used to making vegan gluten-free recipes, make your festive dessert to test it out and get used to the process.
- Have all your ingredients at room temperature unless otherwise stated in the recipe.
- If you're recipe calls for softened vegan butter, make sure it's still slightly cool to the touch before starting. Softened butter will blend better and easier with the sugars. Make sure that it's not TOO soft (or melted!) or it can cause your dessert to not turn out as expected. To make sure your butter is at the right temperature, lightly press your finger into the butter. Your butter is at the perfect temperature if it leaves a shallow indent. If your finger sinks into the butter with barely any effort, your butter is too soft. Refrigerate it until it has firmed up.

Tips for Success (continued)
- Measure your flour correctly. Too much will make your recipe too dry and very crumbly resulting in a dry and crumbly dessert. Please read my article about how to measure flour correctly. This tip also applies to all other ingredients, make sure to measure them accurately to get the best results. I highly recommend using a scale (this is the scale I own (Amazon Link).
- Use the EXACT gluten-free flour or flour blend the recipe calls for. All vegan gluten-free flours are not equal and they all perform differently in recipes. To avoid any recipe mishaps, please always use the flour the recipe calls for. For more about this, please read my Vegan Gluten-Free Baking Tips article.
- Read the recipe posts from top to bottom before you start. There are always lots of tips and tricks so you get things right. Also read through the actual recipe before getting started.
- Follow the recipes exactly as they are written for the very best results.

Christmas Desserts FAQ
Vegans can eat any dessert that does not contain dairy, eggs, or any other animal-derived ingredients. The great news is that there is a vegan version of pretty much every dessert you can think of! Cheesecake, cake, puddings, brownies, cookies, mousse, and so much more! If you're a new vegan, seek out recipes that are labelled as vegan and if you are buying from a store, read the ingredient list carefully and look for vegan symbols on the packaging.
In general, many of them can (how long will vary from dessert to dessert), however, many desserts are best served on the same day they were made. The best thing to do is read through the recipe you'd like to make and find the storage and make-ahead info in the recipe details.
So many desserts to choose from! I hope you found something to make for your holiday celebrations and maybe even something that you'll make every year so it becomes a part of your family traditions.
Merry Christmas, and happy holidays!
