It’s January, so naturally everyone is on some sort of health kick. Which is why I’m sharing this Berry Beet Ginger Smoothie recipe with you today.

Right now, my Pinterest feed is filled with recipes for juices, smoothies, and all types of detox drinks (I’m sure yours is, too!). I’m not complaining though because I am happily pinning a lot of new, nutritious, and delicious looking recipes to my Healthy Juice and Smoothie Recipes board. I love smoothies and juices year round, not just after holiday overindulgence, so it’s always a good thing to discover new recipes.

Berry, Beet, Ginger Smoothie

While I add new recipes to the mix regularly, this berry beet ginger smoothie is my go-to (I’m actually sipping on one as I write this!). I usually make it more than once a week, switching out some of the ingredients at times, depending on what is in my fridge.

The avocado add a nice smoothness, the beet and berries add beautiful colour and nice flavour, and the ginger gives it a little zing that makes this smoothie stand out. It’s a nice combo because all of the ingredients just work really well together. And of course, it’s good for you!

And think outside of the “smoothies for breakfast” box. I have been known to have a smoothie for a snack, lunch, or even supper on rare occasions, too. Have a little something else on the side and it will keep you going for a while. They’re a nice option to have if you’re on the go or in a rush.

So whether you’re on an after-the-holidays-health-kick or you just love smoothies and being able to blend up a healthy, great-tasting breakfast (snack, or lunch!) then try my berry, beet, ginger smoothie. I think you’ll love it.

P.S. Join me over on Facebook! I share healthy smoothie recipes on my page regularly (because I love them so much!).

Hi Lauren! The beet goes in raw after it’s peeled, no need to cook it. I hope you like the smoothie 🙂

I have been in a smoothie rut and found your recipe on Pinterest. The beet and ginger combo is just lovely! I didn’t have avocado so I just left that out. Thanks for posting a unique smoothie recipe that’s not too sweet.

How much does this make? Seems like it would make 2 servings, but wasn’t sure…

I love smoothies but a lot of the recipes use banana (like here) and I just don’t eat bananas. Can you think of an easy substitute?

Hi Janet! Lots of substitutes! The banana is usually the ingredient used to thicken the smoothie, so in place of that thickener, you can use others like avocado, oats (you have to grind into a powder first before adding…I used to think using oats was strange until I actually tried it!), or even frozen fruits or vegetables. Let me know how it goes 🙂

        Gwen;
Instead of grinding the oats first, try soaking them the night before. I use equal amounts of hot water and oats. Put them in a small jar or covered container and let them sit out overnight. In the morning, when you are ready to make the smoothie, the oats are ready!

I’ve never tried putting a beet in a smoothie before but now I totally want to? I love the flavours up in here. Berries! Ginger! Turmeric! So much good stuff! Do you just chuck the beet into your blender whole with everything else? Definitely intrigued by this one. Thanks for the recipe!

Hi Katie! I’m currently using a NutriBullet for my smoothies so all I do is cut the beet in half or quarters (depending on how big it is) and it gets blended with everything really nicely. I hope you like it!

Oh yeah! That smoothie looks gorgeous. I love the pictures as well, beautiful presentation! I was just confused after seeing the photos and the title why there’s no beet or beet juice in the ingredients list *hihi* But yeah, avocado & ginger & spinach are one of my favorite food items so I’m definitely going to try this one out 🙂

Hi Bianca! You are so kind to compliment on the pictures! It means a lot, I have been working really hard on my food photography, so thank you!

And yes, I did miss the beet in the ingredients list (how did I manage to do that??!) 🙂 Thanks for pointing that out right away, all fixed up now!

Hi Thalia! I am the only one in my family who likes beets so I use them when making something ‘just for me’ as often as I can 🙂
