Some people cannot function without having their morning coffee. I’m not one of them. I do like coffee and have some on occasion, but do I need it to get me going in the morning? Absolutely not.
For the past few months, I’ve been starting my day with freshly squeezed lemon juice and warm water, and I love it. It’s like a morning lemonade…without all the sugar. And it does take some getting used to but once you get into the routine of having it every day, it just becomes something you can’t miss. For me, anyways. After my lemon juice and water, I follow up with breakfast. And so starts my day. Every day.
There are many articles that claim drinking lemon water every morning offers a ton of health benefits and I can’t really say if they are all true (if you are curious, here’s one article, and here’s another). Some swear they feel so much better after starting to do this, some claim that it does nothing.
If there are indeed some health benefits, it’s a nice bonus and I’ll take them! I do it because it makes me feel good and for me, feeling good is always a great way to start the day. If anything, I know for sure that I am contributing to my daily with my water intake (something I have to keep reminding myself to do!) If you want to try it, see below. - half of a lemon, juiced
- 2 cups warm water (this amount can be changed to suit your tastes)
Add the lemon juice to the warm water and stir.
