I haven’t done a Friday 5 in a while and I kinda miss it! As much as I love photographing and sharing recipes, I also love to talk about the TV shows I’m watching since it’s one of the things I like to do in my spare time.
So here’s what I’m watching, I’d love to hear about what you are hooked on too!
1. Girl Eat World
My kids watch TVO some days after school and after the kid programming ended one evening, this gem of a show, Girl Eat World, came on. It’s a series hosted by Kamini Pather, a former food blogger, turned chef, turned Top Chef South Africa winner, turned food writer and world traveller. In each episode, she visits somewhere in the world and meets up with a local food blogger. The food blogger then takes her around the city to experience all the must-try foods. The history of each city is discussed and well known landmarks are visited and also discussed. The series has since finished (for the season?) on TVO, but I found it on Netflix. So I’m now watching all the episodes I missed!
Watch Girl Eat World on Netflix Canada (also on Food Network in the US).
2. Who Do You Think You Are?
Technically, I’m not watching Who Do You Think You Are yet. Season 8 only starts this Sunday and I can’t wait. It’s all about history, and genealogy, and the complexities of our family trees. Each week, a celebrity digs into their family history with help from genealogy experts. What they find takes them on a journey, sometimes around the world, to find answers and unlock secrets previously unknown about their ancestors. If you love history, biographies, and genealogy (and a little travel), you will love this show.
Watch Who Do you Think You Are on TLC.
3. Parts Unknown
Parts Unknown is similar to Girl Eat World. The episodes are longer, so there’s time for a deeper dive. In this series, chef Anthony Bourdain travels around the world and lands in some pretty interesting and unique spots…places that are sometimes off the beaten path. He meets up with a local who takes him around town to all the must-eat spots. They discuss the foods that part of the world is known for, and they also talk about the history of the city. If you love travel, food, learning about the world, and history, check this show out. I only started watching recently, so I have a lot to catch up on. It’s currently in season 6.
Watch Parts Unknown on CNN.
3. Any Movie that has to do with Space Travel
Since I was little, I’ve always had a thing for space travel and learning about planets. So I recently went down a Netflix wormhole (ha!) and it all started with the movie Interstellar. I then moved on to Gravity. And I want more. See any good space movies lately? Tell me. Because I want to watch more!
Watch Interstellar and Gravity on Netflix Canada.
5. The Walking Dead
Negan! “Richonne!” Carol! Darryl! OMG! The season 6 finale is this weekend and I’m scared. I have no idea what’s going to happen and I’m not looking forward to the hiatus. I guess Fear the Walking Dead will have to fill the zombie void until the Fall!
Watch The Walking Dead on AMC.
So, that’s what I’m watching, what are YOU watching? Tell me! I’m always looking for something new.
